What I think the real meaning of Christmas is not all the presents or gifts we get but the birth of our Father Baby Jesus. Also, another thing about Christmas is to share and give to others. The whole point of Christmas is to give to others and always be grateful for what you get and what you have.
Example: If I got a new nintendo DS game and my sister and brother did not, I should share it with them instead of braging and saying"ha ha" I got a new nintendo DS game and you guys did not.
And that's what I think the real meaning of Christmas is. TO SHARE AND TO GIVE!!!

CHARACTER CLUE

OUR NEW PRESIDENT
I have learned that our next president of the United States of America Barack Obama is a very good husband and dad. I always saw his wife and two daughters with him on tv when he was running for president. His two daughters looked really happy holding their dad's hand. They did not look unhappy or like they were forced to smile for the cameras. Mrs. Obama looked really happy too and said alot of nice things about her husband. She was always beside him clapping her hands and smiling like she was very proud of her husband.
Barack Obama said that when his family moves into the White House he was going to get his daughters a puppy. I don't think he really wants one for himself but because he wants to make his daughters happy he is going to get them one. I think that he loves his family very much because when his grandmother got really sick Obama stopped campaigning to go check on her in Hawaii. I pray that GOD will help him run our country and do what is right.

JOHN ROLFE
John Rolfe was born in 1585 in England. He sailed to America in May of 1609 on the Sea Venture ship but did not reach Virginia until May 1610. When he got to Virginia, he learned how to grow tobacco, which became very popular in that time. He made alot of money which helped the people of Virginia and it's economy.
In 1614 he married Pocahontas, who was the daughter of the Indian chief. Pocahontas was not a christian when she first met John. John and Pocahontas had a son named Thomas. In 1616 they all moved to England but 7 months later Pocahontas died. John left his son Thomas in the care of a guardian in England and headed back to Virginia to live.
In 1617 John remarried. He married a woman from Virginia. John Rolfe died in 1622 but no one knows exactly how.

Economy
What I have learned so far about the economy is that our country, as well as many other countries are having major money problems. From my understanding, the United States money problems started when banks started loaning money to people to buy homes and the people were not able to pay their monthly mortgages. One of the reasons why they were not able to pay their monthly mortgages is because the banks had given them bad mortgage loans that were too much for them to pay with the money they were making.
Also, the banks were getting greedy and started doing really bad things to get people to sign up with them for a loan. They started lying about how much money people were actually making so that they could get more loans processed which made them look good as a bank. Because the more loans they got people to sign the more money they could make off of the people. But when a whole lot of people were not able to pay back their loans the banks started running out of money to loan other people and businesses who wanted to borrow money from them. Now many of our country's banks have ran out of money to keep our economy going strong.

Interviews
What I learned based on my three interviews with people in the medical field is that it takes a very, very, very long time of being in school to get a career in this field. I also learned that to be in the medical field your heart has to be in it. Anyone can be a doctor or a nurse but not anyone can be a great doctor or nurse. You have to really love it. One of the other things I learned by talking to these three people is that the work hours are long. This is the one downside of this field. You work alot and don't really get to see your family as much as you would like. Another thing I learned about working in the medical field is that you are very busy. The reason that I want to become a nurse is because I want to be able to help other people and this is a great way to do that. I really enjoy people so helping them would make them and me happy. I want to make a difference in someones life if I can.

Our Government
Our country is going to vote on a new President and Vice President on November 4 ,2008. I do not know much about Barack Obama or John McCain,but I do know that people are really concerned about who wins the race, because people are complaining about gas prices, grocery bills, jobs, and taxes. They are afraid of what may happen when the new President gets into office. They want to know if things are going to be better or worse for them and there families. Hopefully,God will bless our knew President and our country with lower gas prices, affordable food for our families to eat, plenty of jobs for people to take care of there families, and lower taxes.
